Clinio 2023
The name Clinio is of Etruscan origin, a tribute to the ancient roots and traditions of this land. Behind it is a red wine from Donoratico near Castagneto Carducci, in the Bolgheri area, in which Cabernet Franc sets the tone.
A coastal wine from Bolgheri, open and versatile, and a lovely first step toward the wines of Tenuta Fratini.
Taste & aroma
In the glass, a purple red with violet reflections. The nose is layered, with the sweet notes of the Mediterranean; the fruit joins an aromatic freshness that keeps everything in balance. On the palate fine and persistent, with harmonious tannin. Balanced even when young, yet with a few more years of bottle aging it can still develop.

The winery
Clinio comes from Tenuta Fratini, a young winery on the Bolgheri coast. The Fratini family has known this area since 1999, when it founded Tenuta Argentiera. In 2016 it began anew here: in 2017 the first ten hectares were planted between forest and sea, and in 2019 the cellar was ready. The consulting winemaker is Eric Boissenot, who works for four of the five Premiers Crus of Bordeaux; the daily work in the cellar is overseen by Emiliano Falsini.
In the vineyard
About 5,700 vines per hectare, trained in Guyot and spur-pruned cordon, with a yield of 7,000 kilos per hectare. The harvest is by hand and the grapes are already selected in the vineyard.
In the cellar
In the cellar the grapes are sorted a second time. The berries ferment with native yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks. The wine then ages twelve months in barrique.
At the table
A versatile companion: with red meat, cheese, and pasta with meat sauce. Open it ahead of time or decant it, and serve at 18 to 20 °C (64 to 68 °F).
