Sassicaia 2023
Until 1967, Sassicaia was a wine for the family and its friends. It only reached the market in 1971, with the 1968 vintage, and to this day the team stays true to the style of that time.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, grown in the estate's own vineyards Castiglioncello, Aia Nuova, Cerreta, Sassicaia di Sopra, and San Martino on the Tuscan coast.
A Sassicaia for collectors and for evenings that stay in the memory. A gift that gives pleasure for a long time.
Taste & aroma
Fragrant and dark at once: black currant and sour cherry, a violet note, and beneath it spice of juniper, bay leaf, and tobacco. On the palate it is taut, with a slightly saline note that keeps it lively; the fruit stays juicy, the tannin is precisely polished, and in the long finish the fruit comes back once more.

The winery
Sassicaia comes from Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri. The winemakers responsible are Carlo Paoli and Graziana Grassini. Around 285,000 bottles of the 2023 vintage were produced.
In the vineyard
The vines grow on calcareous soils rich in marl, stones, and pebbles, in places also clay, between 100 and 360 meters above sea level. The wine takes its name from these stones.
At the table
A wine for big occasions: with bistecca alla fiorentina, braised beef, wild boar ragù, or a beef roast with Mediterranean herbs. Open it ahead of time or decant it, and serve at 18 to 20 °C (64 to 68 °F).
