Guidalberto 2024
Guidalberto is the wine with which Tenuta San Guido entered the new millennium. The first vintage, 2000, reached the market after more than twenty years of trials.
Alongside Cabernet Sauvignon stands Merlot, which brings aromatic fullness and a soft palate, and does so after a comparatively short aging period.
Cabernet and Merlot from Bolgheri, from the estate that makes Sassicaia. For a lovely evening or as a gift for anyone who loves Bolgheri.
Taste & aroma
For Carlo Paoli, winemaker and head of production at Tenuta San Guido, it is a wine of full, round drinking pleasure. Its complexity and structure at the same time give it great potential to develop over the years.

The winery
Guidalberto comes from Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, the estate of Sassicaia. Its name recalls Guidalberto della Gherardesca, an ancestor of the family who renewed agriculture in Bolgheri in the early nineteenth century. He had the first mills and churches built and laid out the famous Viale dei Cipressi. The label shows the oratory of San Guido.
In the cellar
Selection already begins in the vineyard during the hand harvest, followed by a second sorting at the sorting table in the cellar. The grapes are gently destemmed and pressed and ferment in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages in 225-liter barriques, mostly French oak with a small share of American oak, new barrels together with used ones. Before release it rests for some time in the bottle.
At the table
A wine for a good evening at the table: with pasta in ragù, roasts and grilled meats, braised dishes, game, or aged cheese. Serve at 18 to 20 °C (64 to 68 °F).
