I MANDORLI – Vermentino IGT Tuscany
A white wine that tastes of the sea. The Vermentino from I Mandorli grows between Mediterranean macchia and the sea-blue horizon on the Tuscan coast, and it brings this tension directly into the glass: taut, lively, saline.
On the nose, white fruit, chamomile, thyme, and a hint of acacia honey. On the palate, fresh and electric, yet enveloping, with a saline note that stays precise sip after sip.
The Winery
I Mandorli is a small family winery in Belvedere di Suvereto, a medieval village between Bolgheri and Piombino, about 300 meters above sea level, with a view of Elba Island. It owes its name to the almond trees that characterize these hills. They work according to a single principle: «La terra decide. Noi ascoltiamo.» The earth decides, we listen.
Only about 2,600 bottles are produced per vintage. You won't find this wine in supermarkets or with large mail-order companies. That's precisely the point.

In the Vineyard
The vineyard is cultivated organically, with cover crops between the vines and biodynamic preparations for the soil and plants. The goal is living soil, where deep and superficial layers interact. The roots play the main role: the finer they branch, the closer their contact with the soil's minerals. Propolis, horsetail, copper, and sulfur are only used when the vintage demands it.
In the Cellar
The north-facing parcel with the oldest vines is fermented on the skins in a Tava amphora. The younger vines undergo a short maceration and mature in glass-lined concrete. Before bottling, both batches are assembled. This results in a straw-yellow wine with golden reflections: fresh, persistent, and with that Mediterranean salinity that carries the sip to the last second.
At the Table
Best enjoyed with grilled fish, seafood, or a Tuscan aperitivo. Serve well chilled, at 10 to 12 degrees.
A wine that doesn't hide its origin. Produced in small quantities, carefully crafted, unmistakably from the Tuscan coast.
